Sail away to paradise: Carnival’s private destination set to revolutionize cruise experiences in 2024

Carnival Cruise Line is expanding its portfolio of private island destinations in the Caribbean with the addition of a new port project in Grand Bahama. This move is aimed at competing with Royal Caribbean’s popular Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Currently, Carnival offers Half Moon Cay, a classic private island experience where passengers are shuttled to the beach via smaller ships. Another option is the Beach Club at Resorts World in Bimini, which is also used by Virgin Voyages. However, both of these destinations are smaller in comparison to CocoCay and require additional transportation to reach.

The new port project in Grand Bahama, set to open in late 2024, will level the playing field with Royal Caribbean. Although not many details have been shared, the port will have the capacity to accommodate two of the largest ships in the world, each capable of hosting 6,000 guests. Additionally, it will feature a pool, beaches, and a variety of dining options, ranging from high-end cuisine to beachside snacks.

Carnival aims to provide a range of experiences for all preferences, from tranquil beach relaxation to thrilling water and adventure activities. The Bahamian Town Square and Festival Walkway will connect the port’s amenities, surrounded by beautifully maintained grounds and local flora.
